For scientific work in the Torneträsk region, the Abisko Scientific Research Station expects to award scholarships primarily to young research students in the fields of biology or the geosciences from Sweden or abroad. The scholarships will be awarded subject to the availability of funds. Grants are available for up to three years. The scholarships are intended to cover the costs of consumables, journeys to and from Abisko and the costs of the stay (accommodation and bench fees) and laboratory and field work in the area. The scholarship will not exceed 15 000 SEK per year.
Travel costs and expense allowances for the research supervisor can also be considered in exceptional circumstances.
A financial and scientific report (endorsed by the research supervisor) must be submitted within a specified time.
You should address your written application to: Site Manager, Abisko Scientific Research Station, SE-981 07 Abisko, Sweden; you should submit it not later than April 1, 2011. In addition to supplying personal particulars and enclosing a degree certificate, you should submit an account of the proposed or on-going research project, including a time schedule and budget, with the application. You should also state whether you have applied or plan to apply elsewhere for funds for the same purpose.
